Top 15 Contestants Announced to Compete for Top Austin Model 2014
With a growing fashion scene in Austin, one segment of the business that will need new fresh faces to walk the runways and appear in local fashion layouts will be the need for more local models. The Top Austin Model event, produced by Butterfly Entertainment, is in its fourth year and is helping with the demand for more new faces in a fun, local modeling competition.
The Top Austin Model competition is held in three phases. Sunday night was the casting portion where 30+ young women of all ages showed up to Departure Lounge in downtown Austin to show off their best walk, be interviewed and do a five-shot posing photo shoot with photographer Todd White. The list of 30 was narrowed down to fifteen and those will continue on to two more competitions which include photo shoots, runway and more. There is also an online voting competition to select Fan Favorite!
Brianna Fleet, a model herself and the event owner says this event does so much for girls who have done little modeling or none at all. “Participants have the opportunity to meet and network with the top designers, beauty professionals, photographers, models, and more – opening the doors for future projects and events. We hope that this competition also builds confidence and character for participants and reinforces the sense of community in the local modeling scene”.
Judges for the casting included the first Top Austin Model, Britany Walker, Vanity Salon owner Laura Gamble-Dunnham, Butterfly Entertainment’s Brianna Fleet, 2013 Top Austin Model Nicole Glenn and I was honored to be a judge for the event as well. I noticed this year many of the contestants were older than I have seen in previous years, however you would have never know it!
The next event, SHOWCASE, is scheduled for February 9 at North Door with ticket info below and the Finale is March 30.
Good luck to all of these young ladies.
