The Fashionable Streets of Austin during SXSW 2013

Every year by the end of February we all get into a special kind of SXSW “mode”. We make plans to not travel downtown and if we do, we plan the trip like we are on the Amazing Race. It is exciting to take in the event feeling like a visitor in your own hometown so I decided I was going to enjoy more of SXSW like an out of towner with credentialed camera in hand.
For the past couple of years, I have covered what I call the “sort of” fashion angle of SX, but typically came up empty handed because there is only so much excitement one can shoot when it comes to flip flops and t-shirts. As I traveled the downtown streets of Austin this year, it was very obvious who the girls were attending the several fashion-related panels and who were going to stand in line in the rain for Grumpy Cat.
Thankfully it was a more fashionable SXSW and I was able to snap a few shots of some of the street style looks beyond flip flops and t-shirts.
