A September to Remember for Isabella Rose Taylor

For Austin’s youngest and very talented designer Isabella Rose Taylor, the month of September will be a month to celebrate as it marks two big milestones in an already noteworthy career for this 13 year old designer.  Her first big event will happen in Austin and the other in New York City.
You will have a chance to meet the designer on Friday, September 5  from 4pm-6pm at the Barton Creek Square Nordstrom to officially launch Isabella’s Fall 2014 Back to School collection for the retailer.  While it may seem overwhelming for a designer many years her senior, it doesn’t faze this designer because she has been designing entire collections since she was eight years old.

“Working with Nordstrom has been really amazing. I have had to learn a lot about what it means to produce for a large department store like Nordstrom. They are very supportive of young designers and I am honored and privileged to be in their store. I am grateful for this opportunity and it truly is a dream come true, said Taylor.
The collection comprised of fun, wearable, and age appropriate tween clothing was styled by Austin Rising Star Winner Cristina Facundo and photographed by David Heisler.   “The design process started from an artist perspective and as I have learned more I find more ways to express myself. Each year and each collection I am continually learning,” added Taylor.  When I asked what does it feel like to take this big step in your career? Isabella replied, “It feels somewhat surreal. I have to pinch myself at times but I look forward to furthering my career and tackling the challenges that may lay ahead.”
In between Isabella’s personal appearances starting in Austin, moving to Houston and then to New Jersey she will take a detour to the Big Apple where she will send her collection down the runway at the Style 360 Fashion Week event on September 9 and where there is another Austin connection–she is sponsored by Dell.  The Style 360 event, now in its 10 year  has hosted many top designer names such as Daisy Fuentes, Kim Kardashian for bebe and more noteworthy names.  This is the first time Isabella has shown in New York and anticipates being a bit nervous, excited and scared all at the same time.
Beth Feldman, Partner at the PR firm handling the public relations for Isabella’s fashion show has been working on the event for nearly a year.  Isabella mentioned on today Show segment it was a dream to show at New York Fashion Week and with some helpful it is about to happen.
“It’s truly been exciting to have the opportunity to work with someone as talented as Isabella. From the moment we met her, we were blown away by her accomplishments and couldn’t wait to share her artwork and fashion collections with national media outlets”, said Beth Feldman, Partner of Beyond PR Group.

The planning process for this show has also been quite seamless.  Don’t think for a second a 13-year old isn’t able to make decisions.  “Isabella knows what she wants and doesn’t waiver from what she believes in.  Even though the fashion industry can be challenging, I have witnessed first hand how Isabella has stayed true to her beliefs and her brand and it has paid off every time.” added Feldman.
Isabella’s stylist for her look book Cristina Facundo will be backstage, along side her sister Sara, and they will be adding the final touches to Isabella’s collection before it comes down the runway to be photographed by the international press.  (And the Fashionably Austin team too!!)  Styling a show can be tricky, but this team seems to have a lot in common to make it easy.
“Isabella and I have similar taste which is why we work so well together.  I understand her aesthetic because it is similar to my own. We are both inspired by street style, art, and with this, there is always an underlying edge to her collections. It is my job as her stylist to bring forth that vibe on the runway,” said Christina.
From Isabella’s first collections shown at Austin Fashion Week, to being awarded a Golden Boot at the Austin Fashion Awards for Rising Star, to being selected as a featured designer to show at the 2014 Austin Fashion Awards, the long list of accomplishments are adding up at a rapid pace.   And did I mention she started school last week?
This talented and poised young woman is checking off a few career firsts and will certainly be a September to remember.  I had to ask one last question, are you excited?   She replied, “I’m BEYOND excited!!”
