New Austin Designer Teresa Venezula Basa Launches Collection

Austin is home to some an incredible  entrepreneurial spirit and it’s exciting when I receive word  a new fashion designer is embarking on another chapter in their career.   When I received an invitation to attend Austin’s newest fashion designer Teresa Venezula Basa, of course I RSVP’d with an exctited yes.  The collection was a mix of bright prints and delicate eyelet lace, short skirts and flowy fabrics.  Selected shoes were provided by Austin Shoe Collection Roosevelt Couture.  As the collection came down the runway you could certainly see her heritage in each piece.
Teresa’s roots are from Chile where she was a refugee.  In 1991 she moved to the United States.  She has lived in the Austin area and her design career started by designing jewelry but it was always a dream to create a clothing collection.  Her dream came true in March where collection was shown at her launch party attended by a crowd of well-wishes and family at Ballet Austin in Downtown Austin.  Teresa also showed several of pieces at another fashion show at the Top Austin Model competition on March 24, 2012.  Proceeds from the Teresa’s launch party benefitted Austin’s SafePlace.
