Hawkins Bucklew Jewelry Designs Opens Showroom 808

Get ready for a new fashion concept to hit the Austin fashion scene thanks to one local jewelry designer. Sheila Hawkins-Bucklew, founder and CEO of Hawkins Bucklew Jewelry Designs, is opening a new space in far north Austin called Showroom 808.
“Showroom 808 will provide an opportunity for the community to support local creatives by purchasing their handmade products and will give designers a physical space to showcase their original designs”, added Hawkins-Bucklew.

Many designers are not able to afford a traditional brick and mortar location starting out and Showroom 808 will fill that void.
The showroom will also spotlight an up and coming designer each month and Showroom 808 will host monthly events to engage the community, the fashion and retail industries. Plans are also in the works to offer high school and college students mentoring opportunities and internships.
Additionally, Showroom 808 will be more than just a retail space or a showroom it will also serve as a resource for local retailers to quick fill inventory needs.
If you have been watching the Austin fashion scene for a few years you may have seen the launch of Hawkins Bucklew Jewelry Designs during Austin Fashion Week in 2014. Since that launch, Sheila has received several editorial mentions from British Vogue, Tribeza Magazine, and the Austin Chronicle to name a few. The Hawkins Bucklew Jewelry Designs collection has also recently launched in several Macy’s stores.
Sheila’s Ethos Chic jewelry designs have been inspired by her many travels abroad but on a special trip to Lagos, Nigeria she met and mentored female entrepreneurs and she wanted to recreate that experience for female entrepreneurs in Austin.

In keeping with Sheila’s love of giving back to her community, the Bakari Luxury Sportswear will feature samples in collaboration with The Bakari Foundation for the grand opening event. The foundation helps honor the life of fashion designer Bakari Henderson. The emerging fashion designer was murdered in 2017 and his mother Jill Henderson has successfully launched his fashion brand.
The Bakari Foundation offers families a travel experience who have lost loved ones at the hands of another.
As far as future growth for Showroom 808, Sheila is optimistic about her platform growing to future locations in Austin. “There’s no limit! That’s my mantra”, said Hawkins-Bucklew.
