Fashionably Pink Show 2013 Recap

Fashionably Austin and the Stiletto Stampede have been working together since 2009, and thankfully, all the creative hard work brought about the second annual Fashionably Pink Fashion Show!  A handful of ATX designers donated their precious time (right before Austin Fashion Week) and put on a pool-side show at the W Hotel’s Wet Deck, featuring the LPD (pink, instead of black, of course!).
”I just finished my dress yesterday actually, but it’s really sweet and memorable,” said Priscilla Barroso, who competed on Fashion Star this season. “It’s my take on the candy striper gal, and I love pink, but I really played with stripes, using an all-natural cotton with sort of a watercolor effect. It’s really wearable…and has pockets, and everyone loves pockets!”
This was Barroso’s first fashion show since being on the NBC show, and the community welcomed her back, while she remained nervous but excited to finally stop travelling for a bit and just enjoy tapping back into Austin.

Fashionably Pink showcased another local television star, too. Project Runway’s Daniel Esquivel (a final four designer) was included in the ATX designer line up, sending out a stunning finale look, inspired by The Great Gatsby, but with a modern-day edge.  Yards of pink chiffon floated down the runway on statuesque model Brittany Jursic.
Project Runway really spring-boarded my career and has opened a lot of doors for me,” Esquivel said. “I’m just amazed by it all, and tonight is exciting, too, especially since it’s for a good cause.”
The night continued on with yummy food and drinks and goodie bag-giveaways, while well-dressed spectators lounged by the pool, soaking up designs from the other 18 designers: Anslee Connell, Valeri Jinxy Abrego-Liszewski, Ilonka SP, Rick Gonyo, Teresa Kopecky, Regina Simone, Paola Moore, Jodi Schreiner, Megan Pinto, Laisa Macias, Teresa Valenzuela Basa, Benson Roberts, Nickie Garcia, Lauren Polt, Nazarena Sadati-Bowring, Roosevelt Cevallos and Ross Bennett, who appeared on the first season of Fashion Star.
A silent shoe auction from famous brands, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Manolo Blahnik and Louboutin were a highlight of the night.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Stiletto Stampede’s encouragement of at-home breast exams, healthier lifestyle choices and overall breast cancer awareness, hence all the fun pink! There was even a silent auction for some show-stopping shoes, and that money will also be included in the Stiletto Stampede’s beneficial work.
To keep the charitable fun going, be sure to register for this year’s Stiletto Stampede run, scheduled for October 26 at The Triangle. Gather some friends,  run 100 yards  in your most fashionably heels.  This year, the Stilletto Stampede will be donating proceeds to the construction of the Seton Breast Cancer Center, opening in 2014.
