Designer Katie Kime Creates 2017 Austin Grid Girls Fashion

Its Fall in Austin and October has no shortage of events to attend.  One of the premier events brings the international racing community together for the Formula 1 race car enthusiasts.  This event comes with the near deafening roar of the Formula 1 cars, amazing people watching,  high-energy entertainment, and an Austin fashion connection.  The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) has announced a partnership with Austin-based designer Katie Kime for the 2017 Formula 1 USGP Grid Girl outfits.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Katie Kime for our Grid Model program. The Katie Kime brand is sporty, spirited, and unique; some of the same attributes which make Austin the perfect home of the USGP,” said Circuit of The Americas Chairman Bobby Epstein.

Katie is best known for her emerging lifestyle brand of fashion, furniture, and accessories inspired by her own personal design aesthetic to dressing herself and the interiors of her home.  To officially announce this collaboration is an exciting time for her business.

“It has been an honor to create the iconic looks of the Formula 1 Grid Models this year,” said designer Katie Kime. “I think the outfits are pretty symbolic of the city of Austin: fun, vibrant, unique, and with just enough edge and flair. We hope the audience enjoys the outfits as much as we enjoyed designing them.”

For Friday’s look, the girls will be wearing a navy-striped, one-shoulder romper with a ruffle detail paired with chandelier earrings.

The second ensemble easily transitions from day to night – ideal for Saturday’s post-race concert by international superstar, Justin Timberlake. The simple shift dress features a navy blue trim combined with a red, white, and blue statement necklace.

For Sunday’s look, you’ll see Katie Kime’s signature patterns: the hand-written triangle shapes that will stand out against the racecar red color of the fabric. The outfit is complete with an asymmetrical hemline, cutouts at the waist, a plunging neckline, and a pair of tassel earrings.

Katie Kime opened her flagship store in 2015 in the heart of downtown Austin and has quickly become a recognizable name in Austin. Her work has appeared in Country Living, Refinery 29, and Vogue, where Katie’s namesake store was named a “Must-See New Destination”. Now the Katie Kime brand heads to the track with three new looks specifically tailored for the women who share the grid with the biggest drivers in the world.
