Designer Amy Smilovic – Tibi – Debuts Resort Collection in Austin
It’s one thing to be able to see a collection on the runway in Austin, but when you actually get to see the collection AND get to meet the designer here in Austin, well consider that a real fashion treat!
New York designer Amy Smilovic of Tibi flew to Austin to take part in a charity fashion show to benefit the First Tee of Greater Austin. Amy said coming is quite a treat and, “loves it here…it’s the most made in local feeling that I’ve ever had here. Everything is made here, it’s a unique feeling.” She also said she enjoys not going to any big box stores or national chains when she is in Austin.
The Tibi collection featured light, modern and airy blouses with structured pants and the electric lime green box-pleated skirt was one of my favorites. The pieces were simple, clean and the collection featured accessories by Austin jewelry designer Kendra Scott. Several pieces were made out of synthetic rubber called Neoprene, the same type of fabric used in scuba suits.
Hair and makeup was provided by Katherine Crenshaw of Cren de la Cren.
Amy partnered with the charity, The First Tee of Greater Austin with her friend and Austinite Julie Crenshaw. Partial proceeds from the sales of the collection following the fashion show also went to the charity.
The First Tee of Greater Austin provides learning facilties and education programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
Thank you Amy for bringing a little of New York fashion to Austin and we hope to see you and many more designers showing in our fine fashion city soon.
