Boutique Peek ~ The Shop Austin

Looking your best for an interview, special event or if you just want to change your look, it can be an overwhelming process. Many questions may enter into your mind like, what looks best on me, am I wearing the right color, or how do I select the right makeup colors and where do I shop!
One Austin woman has taken those concerns and she has streamlined a simple process to quickly find your inner you. Eve Michaels brings decades of experience and she’s right here in Austin.
Eve’s new, and most elegantly decorated studio off Lake Austin Blvd, is a
space where she will pamper you while gathering some helpful image tips to make you look and feel your best. But getting to this point in Eve’s career and making the move to Austin was not in her career plan.
A California native, Eve began working with her family-owned clothing store and fell in love with the fashion industry. She left college in her third year to open another store with her dad, a men’s and women’s store in Hollywood, California.
Later, Eve ran two high end boutiques for more than fifteen years and in 1999 a new door opened for her. She received her image consulting certification, became an international motivational speaker and started teaching how important image is in all aspects of business and personal life situations. “Image can change your career and improve your personal relationships, or help you get you a promotion”, said Michaels.
Eve is an author and wrote, Dress Code, Ending Fashion Anarchy. “It’s a wake up call. I was tired of hearing abroad with what people were saying about an ugly America,” Michaels added.
She also felt television was a perfect media to share her image knowledge and for more than 25 years has appeared on many national programs including The Today Show, ABC, ET and more.
While moving to Austin was simply a on the fly decision, it was an exciting new direction and Eve embraced moving to Texas. But once in Austin, reality came knocking at her door.
“I love it here. I really thought I created career suicide moving here, truthfully”, said Michaels. Her first weekend out on the town, she sobbed and cried because everyone was in flip flops! “Where can I wear my high heels?”, said Michaels.
Eve thinks there has been a big fashion shift in the last five years, due to Austin’s exploding growth with new restaurants, and the increase of people moving here from all over the world. They are looking for a much more fun and relaxed lifestyle and they bring with them a sense of style not seen here before.
“I think people will still always love being casual in Austin during the day, but that East Side grunge look will go out “, added Michaels.
So if you need to revamp your look, how do you get started? Services for image consulting, include a first look consultation which takes about 2 ½ hours. Eve will determine your best colors, makeup colors, jewelry, silhouettes, and even décor for their home. You’ll also receive a 70 pantone color chip brochure.
Eve also uses an online styling tool that will tell you everything from where their bra straps should be to where pockets should hit on your body. Need some direction on where to shop, have your hair done or need a good taylor, no problem, Eve is there to help as well. And grab a few of your gal pals and take in a group class and get the full image treatment .
Eve’s business is growing and she is finally enjoying the fruits of many years of labor. “For me it’s all about empowerment. At this point in my life I couldn’t think of doing anything else”, Michaels added.
