Austin Accessory Designer Kelly Wynne Marks Five-Year Milestone
From making sales quotas to announcing employee promotions, every business celebrates milestones, but when a business celebrates being in business for five years, it’s time to send out some invitations, pop the cork on some bubbly and celebrate! And that’s exactly what Austin handbag designer Kelly Wynne did at a packed store of well-wishers last week at her flagship store in Austin. But before the champagne flowed, there were years of hard work to get to the five-year mark.
Wynne, who formerly was in the PR business, decided it was time to put a life dream in action, and her handbag design business was born. Since she started, she has stayed true to her brand, faced her fear to even become a designer and has put her business on the fast track to supply fashion hungry fashionistas fashion-forward, bright and fun handbags at an affordable price. She was inspired by exotic skins and ultimately found a technique of printing colorful renditions on suede, and her signature look came to fruition.
About eighteen months ago, Wynne took even a bigger leap of faith when she opened her first store in the popular Domain Northside shopping center in North Austin. Being a business owner and designer has certainly had its obstacles, but nothing stops this driven store owner. “It has been a challenge, it’s been a grind, but we keep grinding and coming up with new products. It’s been really exciting”, added Wynne.
Kelly has expanded her handbag line and added jewelry offerings and is currently collaborating with five women business owners to celebrate her five years in business. Supporting fellow business women is something that is near and dear to Kelly. Her list of “boss ladies” collaborators are Alexandra Dieck of Lexicon of Style, decorative journals by Micha May of May Designs, custom t-shirts by Sarah Eckett of Daisy Natives, Artist Taelor Fisher and Dallas jewelry designer Lauren Huddleston round out the boss ladies group.
While the store was packed with well-wishers, sipping on colorful cocktails, enjoying nibble and bites, and of course, shopping, what else could be on the horizon, for this driven young entrepreneur? Kelly shared she is launching a new travel line in the Fall, and if you have not been following her social media, there’s another big announcement. “I have a new stylish diaper bag coming for the mom who wants to be fashion-forward,” said Wynne. And the timing is perfect. Kelly and her husband are expecting a baby girl in August. Congrats!
